THE PROGRAM

Our Heavy Equipment Operator program is designed to open new doors and career pathways for our students and build a stronger, more skillful workforce. Whether you would like to have better employment opportunities for yourself or you’re a business owner looking to train and certify your crew, we offer an affordable and committed heavy equipment operator program.
Graduates of this program earn multiple certifications for operating heavy equipment and powered industrial trucks. Lecture portion covers instruction and general background knowledge on safety and equipment, providing a good base of theoretical knowledge. Hands-on segment gives students the opportunity to drive and operate a variety of equipment including forklift/hi-lo's, skid steers, backhoes, front end loaders, excavators, and lifts.
Topics covered include OSHA rules and regulations, job-site safety, reading grade levels, identifying soils, machine inspection and maintenance, and job-site layout. It’s crucial for students to be able to perform their job efficiently and in the safest way possible. Ultimately, we want job employment to increase in Detroit and help its residents grow personally and community wise.
