Our number one goal in Detroit Training Center (DTC) is to give our students marketable job skills to boost the possibilities to get a job. It doesn’t matter if you’re a veteran, parent or college graduate, we’re here to prepare you to be an active asset for our city. Empower yourself, your family, and your community.

This 2 week hands-on training program will provide students with the skills necessary to work on packaging curtain-wall and other building enclosure systems for safe storage and transportation. Students will learn how to load, lift, strap, pad, and brace materials for safe transit.

Training Program Prerequisite

Must have a High School Diploma, GED, or two years experience equivalent.


Credentials earned

  • First Aid: First aid gives you the ability to help someone in need. By learning how to respond in emergency situations, you will be able to assist injured or ill people, while you wait for the medical professionals to arrive.

  • CPR Certification: CPR could save the life of someone suffering a cardiac or breathing emergency. CPR stands for cardiopulmonary resuscitation and it keeps oxygenated blood flowing to the brain and vital organs until medical professionals arrive.

  • OSHA 10 Safety License: You’ll be able to recognize, avoid, decrease, and prevent health and safety hazards in your workplace. Moreover, you’ll learn about your rights as a worker and responsibilities as an employer.

  • Forklift / Hilo Operator: You’ll learn the general principles of safe industrial truck operation, different types of vehicles used in the industries, safety requirements of the OSHA standard, and hazards related to the operation of forklifts and hi-los.

  • Bunk Assembly: Learn to assemble or fit together permanently or semi-permanently two or more elements.
